Hello MIKE,I read your tribute to my Dad when you first wrote it,it's very worthy of a special man.To we his children he really was pretty much the finest father one could hope for he set us all a shining example of what can be achieved when one's heart is in the right place and the project is worthy of the effort. As a son I realised ekids missed out on some family time as he wasoften so busy, thankfully with the farm we had valuable times together whilst always learning from him.Along with a few others he was an inspiration to all who knew him, a man without ego or self importance but one who gave so much of his life for the benefit of others he is sorely missed but lovingly remembered thankyou Dad for being a wonderfull father I will aways love you Mark

Hello Mike
My name is Michelle Klee (maiden name Barby). Back in the 70's my mother married Nigel Holdaway(adopted son of Jim...but not less loved!!!). I was 14 at the time (now 52). My sister and I (from Australia) were there for their wedding. My sister stayed in NZ and I returned to my father at Euabalong NSW Australia. I have so many positive memories of the Holdaways... the elegence and love from Jim,Anne, Sarah and Mark. I have travelled the world since then and I have always proclaimed them to be my family... how is this possible without them knowing that I exit?.... hope dies last but love never! If you ever have the chance to talk to this family please tell them that even though we have not spent time together, they have alway been my family. If any one should want to contact me (I am currently living in Germany, soon to return to Australia) here my email. michelleleeklee@yahoo.com.au

Thanks Tony,
I have had many sleepless nights worrying about the demise of the ARC. I am confident the Auckland Council will realise its regional responsibilities and its unique potential and pick up the fallen flag of the ARA/ARC.

Jim Holdaway was indeed a man who made his world a better place than when he first discovered it.

His contribution to the City of Auckland is truly remarkable and his humility equally profound.

A visionary as he was he had the opportunity to make changes and foresaw the need for the Auckland Regional Council. His model was appropriate for Auckland City, the present Super City is not. The Auckland Regional Council allowed for the variety of locational cultures to survive and flourish, Jim I know will be saddened to see this aspect of his dream circumvented and crushed.

I always found Jim and Ann to be wonderfully generous people with their time, their ideas and finally their hands on contribution to ensuring their vision became a reality of considerable consequence.

I am saddened at Jim's passing and know that Ann will continue her work with the Red Cross and other organisations if her health allows.

God Bless you both
